ABOUT ME
ABOUT ME
My educational and working background is integrative, and I bring that integrative ethos into my practice. I have Master’s degrees in Counseling, Literature, and Theology, and I spent many years teaching and lecturing before becoming a counselor. I also owned a therapeutic massage therapy practice. I frequently contribute to a podcast focused on infertility, grief and loss, and the pastoral care of individuals and couples. I also provide in-service lectures and presentations on numerous counseling topics to organizations.
COUNSELING ETHOS
There is no cookie-cutter path to healing, and my most important job as a therapist is to create a safe space for each client and their unique story to be heard. What clients are experiencing in the present moment is often shaped by their past and by the hopes they have for their future. I integrate a both/and approach in my work: I help clients process the past and integrate changes in the present moment that help them realize their hopes for the future. To do this, I draw from several trauma-informed modalities that combine psychoanalytic approaches and counseling interventions. These include attachment-based therapies, Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
